When something in your app isn’t working, report a defect. You describe the problem in one conversation with Iron Octopus, which investigates it, agrees the problem and the fix with you, and turns it into a bug fix that’s planned, built and released like any feature.

Report it

1

Describe the problem

On Home, type the problem into What should we build or fix next? and click Report a defect. You can also open a project’s Defects tab and click Report a defect.
2

Tell Iron Octopus what you saw

Say what happened, what you expected, and how to make it happen, if you know. Add screenshots or steps as evidence.
3

Agree the problem and the outcome

Iron Octopus investigates and talks it through with you until you agree on what’s wrong and what should happen instead.
4

Approve the bug fix

When you approve the scope, Iron Octopus creates a bug fix feature in Planning, linked to the report. From there it follows the same steps as any feature: plan, build, review and release.

Problems in a released feature

A released feature doesn’t change. If the problem is in one, Iron Octopus proposes a separate bug fix, and the original stays exactly as it was released, so the record of what shipped and when stays true. If the problem is in a feature that isn’t released yet, the fix becomes more work inside that feature instead.

Other outcomes

Not every report becomes a bug fix. A report can also be marked as a duplicate, not reproducible, declined, or deferred for later. Decisions can be revisited, and earlier ones stay in the report’s history. See defect reports.

Find your reports

Open defect reports show on Home under Defect reports, with their severity. Each project’s Defects tab lists its reports and their conversations.
