# Home and Needs you

> Your starting point: what needs a decision, what's moving, and what Iron Octopus caught.

Home is where you start each day. It shows the decisions only you can make, the work moving on its own, and what Iron Octopus caught before it reached your code. If **Needs you** is empty, nothing is waiting on you.

## What should we build or fix next?

The box at the top is where new work starts. Describe a feature or a problem, then click **Draft a feature** or **Report a defect**. See [start with an idea](https://docs.ironoctopus.ai/build/start-with-an-idea.md).

## Needs you

Each card is one feature waiting for a decision. The most urgent come first: anything stuck, then reviews, then questions, then features ready to move on.

| Label | What it means | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| Failed or Stuck | Work stopped and automatic retries didn't fix it. | Click **Ask why** to find out, then retry or open the feature. See [when work fails](https://docs.ironoctopus.ai/fix/when-work-fails.md). |
| Review requested | A work item is waiting for a person's review. | Click **Open review**. See [review and rework](https://docs.ironoctopus.ai/build/review-and-rework.md). |
| Needs input | Iron Octopus needs something from you, such as acceptance criteria. | Open the feature and do what it asks. |
| Ready to build | The plan is ready. Its recorded assumptions are listed on the card. | Check the assumptions, then click **Start building**. |
| Ready for acceptance | Every work item is done. You only see this if your rules turn off the automatic move. | Click **Move to acceptance**. |
| Ready to release | Every required acceptance criterion is met. | Click **Release feature**. |

Use the filter at the top of the list to see one kind at a time.

## In progress

Features in **Building** or **Acceptance**, each with a progress bar and a short status, such as "3 of 7 work items done · 1 running" or "11 of 12 acceptance criteria met". **View all work in progress** opens the detailed list. ## Caught in review

What review found in Iron Octopus's own work and sent back for rework in the last 14 days, with all-time totals underneath. See [review and rework](https://docs.ironoctopus.ai/build/review-and-rework.md).

## Recently released

Features released in the last 14 days, each with the date and how many acceptance criteria were met.

## Defect reports

Open defect reports across your projects, each with its severity. See [defect reports](https://docs.ironoctopus.ai/building-blocks/defect-reports.md).

## Engineering detail

Technical readers can switch on **Engineering detail** to see more, such as review attempt numbers. It's off by default.
